Baisakhi

Baisakhi invitations

Name the day, the time you expect people, and whether the gathering is prayers, a meal, or both.

Baisakhi is the Punjabi harvest and, for Sikhs, the birth of the Khalsa. The day gathers people at the gurdwara, around a langar, and often at a family table.

How to invite people for Baisakhi

A great way to invite people for Baisakhi is a warm note sent two to three weeks ahead. Say if the day includes the gurdwara, a family table, bhangra, or all three, and give the time you actually want people to arrive.

Name the city if family is coming from outside Punjab. Say which gathering you are hosting so the harvest day and the new year are not left to guesswork.

When should I send a Baisakhi invitation?

Two to three weeks before the day.

What should I include?

The date, the arrival time, the address, and whether the day is prayers, a meal, or a celebration.
